Contract chairs are a category of seating that is made for large orders and sold in batches, although Contract (chair) is produced within the economy and the capacity of my own studio production. It’s made from simple construction materials like stainless steel, which do not require any finish – the tubes can be simply welded together, leaving the welding marks visible. It’s a resistant, sustainable and comfortable chair that can be ordered in large quantities. This is an example of how an industry can directly start in the studio.
